Applesauce Nut Bread Recipe

Below is my recipe for making the best applesauce nut bread that you will ever eat and enjoy.  This applesauce nut bread is moist, flavorful and needs no topping to enjoy. Simply take a knife and slice a piece and enjoy with a glass of milk.

Ingredients:

2 cups of all purpose flour
2 tablespoons of wheat germ
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon of allspice
6 tablespoons of butter at room temperature
1 cup of sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened chunky applesauce
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped, toasted pecans
Granulated sugar, for topping

Instructions:

You will want to begin by lightly greasing a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.

Take a medium mixing bowl and add in your flour, wheat germ, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice and whisk your ingredients together until mixed.

Now take a large mixing bowl and place in your butter and sugar and cream them together with a hand mixer.  You will want to beat until your ingredients are well mixed and are light and fluffy.  Next, add in your eggs, one at a time, and beat until mixed and then add in your vanilla and beat until your ingredients are fully incorporated.  Then add in your applesauce and mix in by hand. butter and sugar.  You now want to take your dry ingredients and add them in about a cup at a time and mix with your hand mixer until all of your flour is fully incorporated and you have created a dough.  Then add in your pecans and fold them into the batter.

Then simply pour your batter into your prepared loaf pan, sprinkle your sugar over top and place your loaf pan in a cold oven.  Now turn the temperature of your oven to 350 degrees F and bake until golden brown and a toothpick can be inserted into the center and it comes out clean.  This should take 55 to 65 minutes.

Remove your loaf pan from your oven and cool for 5 minutes in the pan.  Then remove from your pan and let your applesauce nut bread cool on a wire rack until completely cooled.
