I have always loved stuffed mushroom, especially when served at a party. In my recipe for making stuffed mushrooms the mushroom caps are stuffed with a generous portion of sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, garlic, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley and seasonings and then baked in the oven until golden brown and delicious.
Ingredients:
18 medium button or cremini mushroom, firm, closed caps
2 tablespoon of butter
4 tablespoons of minced onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup of soft freshly made bread crumbs
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tablespoons of minced flat leaf parsley
1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of black pepper
2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
You will want to begin by gently washing your mushrooms under running water. Then drain them on paper towels. Next, pull the stems of your mushrooms off from and chop them finely.
You should now take a skillet and add in your butter and place your skillet over a medium heat. When the butter melts add in your chopped mushroom stems and onion and sauté until they are tender. This should take about 2 minutes. Then add in your garlic and cook 30 more seconds. Next, stir in Worcestershire sauce, soft bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper and mix your ingredients together.
You will now want to season your mushroom caps with salt and then fill them with your sautéed mixture, mounded over the top. Now take a shallow baking dish and add in 2 tablespoons of water along with your stuffed mushrooms and place your baking dish in your preheated oven and bake until golden brown, This should take about 20 minutes. Serve your stuffed mushrooms right away.
